Gardening in Puyallup and Sumner County

Images of cornucopias spilling beauty and variety come to mind when we visualize gardens in Washington. Blessed with a very long‚ though cool‚ growing season‚ gardeners in mild western parts of the region often gather rosebuds along with their holly on Christmas Eve.
Known for the beauty of its natural landscape‚ the Pacific Northwest offers some of the most superb growing conditions in the United States‚ and some considerable challenges.
The region is roughly bisected by mountains running north to south‚ with differing climate realities within those areas. The Coastal Northwest extends from British Columbia south through Oregon to California‚ lying west of the Cascade Mountains‚ with mild‚ rainy winters and cool‚ dry summers. The Inland Northwest‚ east of the Cascades and west of the Rocky Mountains‚ copes with frigid winters and sunny‚ hot‚ arid summers.
